I recently wanted to enable respawn anchors in the overworld of my minecraft SMP server. I made a write-up about why and how I ended up accomplishing this https://blog.schoentoon.blue/posts/minecraft-respawn-anchors-in-overworld-for-minigames/
This was their entire response btw... On the one hand I'm surprised to get a reply at all... Even more surprised to get an answer within 24 hours..
So I actually emailed them with feedback. They were nice enough to answer with a picture, which highlights on it's own what a terrible UX their website has...
Recently was already complaining about websites having super shitty multi language implementation.. Oh boy did I find another one.. https://southpark.cc.com/ redirects me to https://www.southpark.de/ (I'm in Switzerland mind you) and there seems like no option at all to switch to any other language. With of course the nice side effect that despite them offering all episodes to watch for free, they're all in German. Guess I'm pirating the special anyway...
Guess I'm building this in a container or something.. Apparently wants me to install npm, nope, nope, nope
So I'm currently building https://apps.ankiweb.net/ to give it a try.. The rust portion has 317 dependencies.. Why are we bashing npm for this constantly but everybody seems to be ignoring this? 🤔
I have actually seen way worse. It wouldn't be the first time a site defaults to French, because hey you're located in Switzerland after all right...
Mozilla consistently bragging about Firefox having fingerprint resistance.. And then not allowing you to disable the timezone spoofing aspect of it is the dumbest thing ever. It will always report UTC and the only workaround is to disable fingerprint resistance all together... Why is this still not fixed ffs
Maybe my thought is completely wrong. But with the whole Google Play taking down fediverse apps because a few servers are spreading hatespeech. Wouldn't a simple disclaimer like "This app is not responsible for content provided on third party servers" be enough? Kinda like the same message you'll get when going into the multiplayer menu in Minecraft (and probably other games) for the first time.
Someone just found my old apartment in Haarlem the Netherlands up for rent again.. It's just 150% of the price I paid.. Therefore more rent than we pay in Basel Switzerland.. And we even have more space... Tell me again how the renting market in the Netherlands isn't completely saturated and fucked up..
Feedback from native speakers is appreciated, although keep in mind that I don't intend on it being 100% accurate so I don't intend of adding a trillion exceptions
In order for me to better pick up on the literal pages of rules while trying to German. I ended up attempting a slightly different approach. I ended up just turning it into some code. https://gitlab.com/schoentoon/german in case someone is interested.
Dutch guy escaped to Switzerland. Golang, C++, whatever language suits me at the time developer and hobby sysadmin.
